Grooving with Primary Schools Since 2011
The Groove Story
At Groove Nation, we believe every child deserves the chance to move, create, and shine. For more than a decade, we’ve been one of the most trusted providers of primary school dance programs across NSW and Melbourne.
Our small but passionate team of talented teachers brings big energy to every class. We design programs that tick all the boxes of the school curriculum while packing in modern music, fresh choreography, and plenty of groovy fun.
We know the power of dance goes far beyond movement – it builds confidence, celebrates diversity, and helps kids discover what they’re truly capable of. That’s why we’re committed to creating inclusive, creative, and joyful experiences that support both students and teachers.
From planning and resources to classes and final performances, we take care of it all—so schools can focus on watching their students thrive.
At Groove Nation, dance isn’t just an activity. It’s a pathway to confidence, creativity, and connection.

Our Team
The Groove Crew
Our Groove Nation teachers bring a vibrant mix of skills, backgrounds, and dance styles to the classroom, but they all share the same core values. They cultivate meaningful relationships with students, creating inclusive and respectful spaces where every child feels seen and supported. Guided by our lesson plans and program framework, they deliver engaging, high-quality classes with professionalism and passion. Beyond the studio, our teachers work closely with school dance coordinators to ensure programs run smoothly and goals are achieved – all while sharing their genuine love of dance with every community they step into.
Where We Dance
Bringing Dance to Schools Across NSW & Melbourne
Groove Nation proudly delivers school dance programs across Sydney, the Illawarra, the South Coast, and Melbourne. From bustling city schools to coastal communities, our reach continues to grow – but our approach stays the same: fun, inclusive, and high-quality dance experiences for every child.
Wherever we go, we bring the same infectious energy, engaging choreography, and professional support that schools have come to trust. Whether your school is in the heart of Sydney, along the stunning South Coast, or in vibrant Melbourne, Groove Nation is ready to get your students moving with confidence and joy.
Our History
We've been on quite the journey since our humble beginnings...
2011
Amy Tasker (Groove Nation’s owner) decided (after seeing another daggy bush dance performance where the kids didn’t know the steps), that all schools deserved access to quality dance programs. So, she set out to change the status quo of school dance.
2012
After much research (and sifting through mountains of curriculum paperwork), Groove Nation began with its very first school.
2013
With growing positive feedback, the Groove team grew, as did the number of happy schools, Principals and parents (thankfully, bush dance rates continued to decline).
2014
The first ever ‘rural’ program took place in Lithgow! This further fuelled a passion to help schools in need… with free dance programs.
2015
Groove officially became ‘Created by Teachers’, as Amy Tasker graduated from her Bachelor of Primary Teaching degree with a distinction average.
2016
We delivered our first free dance program to a school in need – this was a major goal of ours from the start (cue major celebrations!).
2017
The biggest number of schools ever are now experiencing Groove Nation and we continue to offer more programs, train more staff and get more feet grooving than ever before. We have also reached over 800 primary students for free this year thanks to our ‘Help Project’.
2018
We continued to develop and improve our online teacher resources to ensure that our programs, communication and professionalism are of the highest standard. Our new motto also came into play… support teachers, foster diversity and inspire creativity!
2019
From day one, we have mainly worked with schools in the Sutherland Shire and St George areas.. but this was the first year we expanded our horizons and ventured into the Inner West and Eastern Suburbs and what a year it was!! Wow.. absolutely loved exploring new areas and meeting such wonderful new people.
2020
This was the year set to break all records.. until.. Friday the 13th of March. Schools shut their doors and we momentarily had no work for the first time in 8 years. Until that is, Groove Connect was born! Our online dance program was put together and distributed quickly and not without support from some AMAZING people. We will be forever thankful for this year. We also won two national business awards and became an approved Creative Kids Provider. Onwards and upwards into 2021!
2021
Just when we thought the pandemic was behind us, disaster struck again. Thank goodness for Groove Connect which enabled us to keep grooving throughout computer screens!
2022
We expanded our reach, to groove with schools in the Illawarra and South Coast regions. This growth allowed more students to experience our engaging and curriculum-compliant dance classes. We also introduced an Online Teachers Portal, providing educators with resources such as curriculum links, assessment rubrics, classroom activities, and music links, facilitating a more integrated teaching experience!
2024
Curriculum integration and teacher support took a front seat as we collaborated with schools to seamlessly integrate dance into their curricula, ensuring that programs met educational standards while being enjoyable for students. Along with launching workshops, and provided comprehensive teaching materials to help support teachers.
2025
As we continued to thrive, working with amazing schools from across Sydney, Illawarra, and the South Coast, our commitment to students and the arts community remained unwavering. Our efforts were recognised by several educational institutions, further solidifying our reputation as a leader in primary school dance education and keeping the smile on our faces!
We've even scored some awards along the way!
