Primary School Dance Programs

Ridiculously Engaging, Awesomely Inclusive & Crazily Creative

We offer a range of primary school dance programs for schools in NSW, including Sydney, Illawarra and South Coast. We work really hard to tailor our programs to suit your schools’ needs and work around your busy schedules.

Choose one of our awesome dance programs or try them all!

Curriculum Performance

Our most popular program. Tick off your primary school’s Australian Curriculum dance requirements with confidence with our fun, engaging and professional curriculum program! Full access to teacher resources for easy assessment and reporting, instant dance items for school performances, stage appropriate choreography and fresh music. This program has it all.

Dance ‘FIT’

Feel like trading in your school sport time for a disco party? Well, this is your program! Based on dance fitness, this program is super high intensity and ridiculously fun. Kids and teachers love this form of exercise. It’s easy to do, incorporates modern music and loads of energy is burnt without even realising.

Year 6 Farewell

Send off your Year 6’s in style – they deserve it (and teachers deserve to sit back and relax). We can turn your farewell from drab to fab with the latest party hits, instructor-led dances, party lights, glow sticks and all-round fun that will make this event one to remember.

School Dance Ensemble

Represent your school proudly with high quality performance groups. We take care of everything including amazing choreography based on a theme/storyline, costuming, performance paperwork, staging, props, hair and makeup notes and auditions (lucky we love multitasking!).

Wakakirri

From concept and creation of storyline, through to a mind-blowing performance that your school can be proud of, we do it all for ‘Wakki’. Our dances have been NSW State Award winners and we aim to ensure that the craziness of Wakakirri is a smooth and fun process for your school.

Regional Schools

Are you a school in a regional area of NSW who would like to implement a program? We compress our Curriculum Compliant Dance Program into 5 days. Class teachers receive resources that map our program against the K-6 Creative Arts Syllabus. Your students also finish the program with ‘instant items’ ready to perform at any school performing arts events. We love grooving with regional schools!

Support Unit/Special Needs

We start with a combination of our ‘Curriculum Performance’ and ‘DanceFIT’ programs as the base of this program and then fully customise this to create an engaging, structured session that meets the specific needs of your students in a tailored and equitable approach. Students participate in consistent, highly structured lessons where they build upon engagement and skills via various themed dances and dances based on modern and familiar beats. Incorporation of a variety of props further extend gross motor skills, body awareness and links to other KLA’s. We know it is important to build familiarity and consistency to promote learning and engagement. Students work towards performing a dance to show off their learning for their teachers, families & carers.

Musicals

Matilda Jnr? High School Musical Jnr? Seussical? Lion King the Musical? If we’re speaking your language then wait until you see Groove Nation supported musicals come to life! From concept through to creation, we work with all involved parties to tie everything together and take your musical to the next level with high quality choreography that speaks to the storyline. Musical theatre is a huge passion of ours.

Custom Performances

We don’t do ‘one size fits all’ dances. We work with your school to create memorable and inclusive performances that tie in with the curriculum. Every student gets their chance to shine. If you have a theme or special upcoming performance, get in touch – we love designing unique dance experiences!

Special Events

So, after 20 years as devoted Principal, Mr Jones is retiring… why not surprise him with a never to forget ‘Flash Mob’ with a medley of his favourite Cold Chisel and INXS songs? Yes, it has been done. Let us help you get the most out of your special event from concept through to the main event – we love creating!

The Help Project

Free dance programs for schools in need
What's Involved

Groove Nation’s Help Project delivers dance programs to Primary Schools in areas of need.  This program involves Groove Nation visiting your primary school for one week to work with your entire primary school. We create a ‘show in a week’ and fully support your school in all aspects of bringing this together.

On the final day (Friday), a matinee and evening show where all
students perform will be managed by Groove Nation (in collaboration with your school).

Audience members will be asked for a gold coin donation upon entry and the money raised goes to a worthy cause nominated by the school (e.g., a local charity or good cause etc).

"Thank you for such a fantastic sport program. Not many programs cater for K-6 and Support Units but the staff of Miranda Public School have loved how diverse your program is."

"The students have truly enjoyed their experience. Their engagement and smiles are a result of a great instructor and program. Our students don't have the opportunities to have professional dance lessons and have embraced this chance to show their natural talents."

"Undoubtedly, last night's Year 6 Farewell was a highlight for all graduating students and the whole school (over 650 students) will remember the fun they had grooving at our inaugural Colour Run. You made both events an outstanding success."
